May 26, 2010 - Los Angeles, CA -- Warbasse Design has a track record for creating cutting-edge mobile campaigns for Hollywood. After consulting on integrated media strategies using QR Codes for the movie 9 and Iron Man 2, Warbasse Design is now working with HBO® to promote their third season of the popular vampire series True Blood® to a mobile audience, and in the process, they are making history.
Right - The Designer QR Code for HBO's True Blood will air on the final episode of LOST - June 23, 2010
Warbasse Design created the True Blood designer QR Code and the mobile user experience it points to. The designer QR Code was placed at the end of a 30 second television ad which aired on Sunday May 23rd, during ABC's last episode of LOST® in NY, LA and Philadelphia. This is the first time in the history of Television and designer QR Codes that they have come together in the same space. "The goal behind the strategy is to extend the conversation," said Philip Warbasse - CEO Warbasse Design. "If you take a 30 second commercial and add a 2D barcode to it, you are effectively extending your time with your audience. For now, it's a clever way to make the commercial last longer," continues Warbasse, "but, soon QR Codes will become the preferred method for television advertisers to deliver extras to interested viewers."
HBO chose Plush Mobile Servers to host the mobile experience and stream the mobile video. The campaign was directed by PHD Network. You can see the designer QR Code in the True Blood television commercial here. But, don't blink, because it's gone in a flash. The campaign is intended to make use of DVR devices like TIVO® which will allows one to freeze the commercial so they may scan the code. Once scanned, fans gain access to a video clip that can only be accessed through the code on mobile devices.
